The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) aren’t in the greatest of positions as far as the league table is concerned. Having lost five out of their ten matches, they are in dire requisite of some wins in order for them to cement their spot in the top four. Their next contest is against the Mumbai Indians (MI) who have slowly but steadily garnered momentum in the tournament.
Moreover, the Knights have a dismal record against MI as they haven’t been able to emerge triumphant against them since their match in Dubai back in 2014. Also, KKR have an abysmal 5-17 record against them ever since the inception of the event, which is definitely not something to cheer for the Men in Gold and Purple. However, the Knights will now be looking to defy the odds at the Eden Gardens.
Mumbai, on the contrary, after a horrendous start, have won three out of their last four games and are gradually presenting themselves as a contender for the playoffs. They have telecasted out some excellent teamwork which has enabled them to climb the ladder. In today’s game, they have the opportunity to overhaul the Knights to the fourth position in the points table.
Not great signs
From 1 pm to 12 am in the morning, there are constant chances of rain in the city, which doesn’t come as an overwhelming news for both Mumbai and Kolkata. However, the heaviest downpour is speculated from 1 pm to 3 pm which is 43 percent to 51 percent along with thunderstorms. Nevertheless, it reduces to 20 percent during the game.
It won’t come as a surprise if the heavens open up during the game and the DLS Method comes into play. One game at the venue, between the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have already been marred by rain and this might be the second game which can be curtailed.
