The Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to live another day in the ongoing edition of the IPL. They registered a very crucial win over the Delhi Daredevils in an away fixture. On the day when it mattered the most, the two senior men from the RCB camp, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli, led the fight for their side. The two veterans ensured that the visitors chased down 181 in the game.

The Delhi Daredevils were asked to bat first after Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli had won the toss. The Daredevils lost both their openers cheaply and it was the pair of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant who bailed them out of the troubled waters yet again. Pant, in particular, was the star of the show with yet another fifty to his name. Later, debutante Abhishek Sharma hammered an unbeaten 46 to propel the DD total to 181.

In the run chase, RCB had a similar start with the openers heading back to the pavilion cheaply. The batting mainstays, ABD and Virat Kohli, then added 118 runs for the third wicket to march on in the run chase. Kohli perished after a well made 70. After Kohli’s dismissal, the run chase got jittery. However, AB de Villiers stayed till the very end with an unbeaten 72 to ensure the 5 wicket win for his side.

Here are the Royal Challengers Bangalore player ratings for the match:

Moeen Ali – 6/10

Moeen Ali got a chance to play as the opener in the match. He, however, failed to grab his opportunity with the bat and ended up getting dismissed on 1. Earlier in the game, he had bowled a decent spell of four overs with figures of 1/25 to his name. He took the big wicket of Rishabh Pant in the match.

Parthiv Patel – 1/10

Parthiv Patel failed to make an impact yet again. He started off with a boundary to his name but ended up messing things big time for himself. An ill-judged shot off the bowling of Sandeep Lamichhane saw him getting out on 6. He needs to up his game soon in the league.

Virat kohli – 9/10

Virat Kohli was determined to take his side over the line in the match. Kohli played the anchoring knock for RCB in the run chase. He added 118 runs with AB de Villiers to keep his side in the hunt. Kohli was livid with himself for not having finished the game for his side. He finished with 70 to his name in 40 deliveries with 7 fours and 3 sixes to his name.

AB de Villiers – 9.5/10

After the wicket of Virat Kohli, the RCB run chase got a little jittery. AB de Villiers stayed at one end but he kept losing wickets from the other side. The veteran South African did not let this bog down his spirits. He ensured that he stayed till the very end to see his side through. AB remained unbeaten on 72 off just 37 balls with 4 fours and 6 sixes to his name.

Mandeep Singh – 2/10

Mandeep Singh arrived at the crease at a very tricky situation. The wicket of Virat Kohli in the 14th over was a big jolt for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They needed someone to support AB de Villiers and Mandeep should have been the man. But he perished after scoring 13 off 14 balls and let his team down.

Sarfaraz Khan – 2/10

Young Sarfaraz Khan was drafted in to the playing eleven for this game by the RCB camp. He had yet another chance to prove his worth for the side this season. Yet again, as has been his story this season, he threw it away after getting his eyes in. He scored 11 runs off the 8 deliveries that he faced.

Colin de Grandhomme – 4/10

Colin de Grandhomme did not a lot of chance to bowl in the game. He bowled just one over in the game and conceded 12 runs. Later in the match, he arrived at the crease at the fag end of the run chase. He remained unbeaten on 3 as AB de Villiers finished the game for RCB.

Tim Southee – 3/10

Tim Southee has been a handy addition in the RCB lineup in the later half of the season. On the day, Southee did not have the best of the days at the office. He bowled his complete quota of four overs but ended up conceding 41 runs. He went wicketless in the match.

Umesh Yadav – 4/10

Umesh Yadav has been one of the best performers for the Royal Challengers Bangalore this season. Umesh did not get his complete quota of four overs to bowl in the game. In the three overs that he bowled, he conceded 28 runs. However, he did not get any wicket in the game.

Mohammad Siraj – 2/10

Mohammad Siraj had a tough time with the ball in the match. Siraj has largely been out of form with the ball in hand this season. His poor run with the ball continued as he went for 46 runs in the four overs that he bowled. Much to his relief, he took the wicket of Shreyas Iyer in the middle overs of the DD innings.

Yuzvendra Chahal – 8.5/10

Yuzvendra Chahal finished the innings as the pick of the bowlers for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the match, he was asked to bowl in the powerplays. He responded well by dismissing Prithvi Shaw in the very first over of the game. In his next over, he dismissed Jason Roy. Chahal returned with figures of 2/28 in the four overs that he bowled.
