The fans at Chepauk had a perfect ending to their 3-year wait to witness Chennai Super Kings back in the field as the home team clinched a high scoring game in the final over. Kolkata Knight Riders posted 203/6 with help of Andre Russell’s blitz. He struck 11 sixes during his unbeaten 36-ball 88 as KKR scored 80 runs in the last five overs. Sam Billings’ 23-ball 56 helped CSK to chase down the total after their openers added 75 for the opening wicket in the powerplay overs.

11 – Number of sixes Andre Russell hit in this game. He is the 2nd Kolkata Knight Riders‘ player to hit ten and more sixes in an IPL inning. Brendon McCullum hit 13 sixes in the first ever IPL game against RCB.


11 – Andre Russell’s 11 sixes are the joint-most number of sixes hit by any player in an IPL inning against CSK. Sanath Jayasuriya also hit 11 sixes for MI during his century in 2008. The 11 sixes by Andre Russell are also the joint-most by any player in an IPL inning at Chepauk. Murali Vijay hit 11 sixes during his 127 for CSK against RR in 2010.


19 – Number of times Dinesh Karthik’s partners got runout in the IPL so far. Only Rohit Sharma (21) saw his partners getting run out more often in the IPL.


21Sam Billings’ 21-ball fifty is the 3rd fastest for CSK in the IPL. Suresh Raina scored a 16-ball fifty in 2014 against KXIP while MS Dhoni scored a fifty in 20 balls against MI in 2012.


31 – A total of 31 sixes hit in this game; 17 by KKR and 14 by CSK. These are the joint-most of sixes hit in an IPL game. 31 sixes were hit during the 2017 IPL game between Delhi Daredevils and Gujarat Lions.


80 – Runs Kolkata Knight Riders scored in the last five overs of their innings. These are the 2nd most runs scored by KKR in the last five overs of an IPL inning. They scored 86 runs in the last five overs against Deccan Chargers in the first season.

The 80 runs are also the most scored by any team in the last five overs in an IPL inning against Chennai Super Kings. Kings XI Punjab aggregated 78 runs in the last five overs in the 2014 game in Cuttack.


88 – Andre Russell’s 88 is the highest score for any batsman while batting at No.7 in the IPL. He broke the record held by Dwayne Bravo with his 68-run knock in the opening game of this season against Mumbai Indians.


715 – Runs Suresh Raina scored against KKR in the IPL. These are the most number of runs scored by any player against KKR in the league. He surpassed Rohit Sharma’s tally of 710 runs against the Knight Riders.


3017 – MS Dhoni became the 2nd player to score 3000 runs in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings after Suresh Raina (3717).
