Delhi Daredevils though already out of the race for the playoffs are doing their best to spoil the momentum of the other teams as they defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 34 runs to dent their chances of a top-two finish. Early in the game, the home team’s top order failed to convert their starts as they were reduced to 97/5. An unbeaten 65-run partnership between Harshal Patel and Vijay Shankar including a 26-run 20th over helped DD finish with 162/5. Ambati Rayudu was once again amongst runs for CSK as he scored a fifty but the middle-order didn’t turn up and they were well short of the target.

Here we look at all the stats and numbers that were recorded during DD’s big win over CSK:

2 – Only the 2nd time Delhi Daredevils have defeated CSK at the Feroz Shah Kotla. The Super Kings defeated the home team in Delhi on four occasions in the IPL. The other instance when DD beat CSK at this venue was in 2012 by eight wickets.

This also the 2nd time in six matches when CSK lost to Daredevils while chasing. They previously lost the game by nine runs in the 2009 edition in Durban.


3 – This match is the 3rd instance when Delhi Daredevils fielded only three foreigners in an IPL game. They had only three overseas players in their last two matches of the 2017 edition. They are also the first team to field with less than three foreigners on three different occasions.


34 – CSK’s 34-run loss in this game is their 5th biggest defeat in terms of runs in the IPL. This is their 2nd biggest defeat while chasing a total under 170 in the IPL. They lost to Mumbai Indians by 60 runs while chasing a 139-run target.


195 – MS Dhoni was dismissed first time in six innings after scoring 195 runs in this IPL. The last time Dhoni got out this season was in the game against MI in Pune where he scored 26 runs.


620Rishabh Pant‘s 620 runs this season are the most in an IPL edition for a left-handed Indian batsman. He went past Gautam Gambhir’s 2012 aggregate of 590 runs for the Kolkata Knight Riders. Pant also became the first player to score 600 runs in an IPL season for Daredevils.


3001 – Ambati Rayudu completed 3000 runs in the IPL and became the 15th player to achieve the milestone. He has scored 585 runs in 13 innings this season with four 50+ scores.


6007MS Dhoni became the fifth Indian player with 6000 runs in the Twenty20 format when he reached his personal score of ten runs.
