Mumbai Indians suffered their 2nd consecutive defeat as it was Sunrisers Hyderabad to sneak through a 1-wicket win against the Defending Champions. Mumbai kept losing wickets and added only 14 runs in the last 16 deliveries to finish with 147/8. SRH’s opening pair added 62 runs in just 6.5 overs before young leg-spinner Mayank Markande bagged a 4-wicket haul. The equation came down to 15 from the last three overs when MI chipped four wickets for one run in spare of nine balls. The last wicket pair Deepak Hooda and Billy Stanlake chased down 11 runs to make it two in two for the home side.

1 – Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 1-wicket win is the only 3rd such winning margin for any team in the IPL. KKR defeated KXIP in 2015 and CSK defeated MI in the opening game of the season with 1-wicket margin. Both those teams reached the target on the penultimate ball.
1 – Deepak Hooda’s six on the first ball of 20th over is the first and only six in SRH’s innings. Mumbai Indians hit a total of six sixes in their innings including three in the powerplay overs.

7 – Number of wickets for Mayank Markande in his first two games in the IPL. He bagged three wickets in the first game against CSK and four in this match. Only Adam Zampa (8) bagged more wickets in first two IPL matches than Mayank.
18 – Number of dot balls Rashid Khan bowled in his four overs. These are the joint most number of dot deliveries bowled by any spinner in an IPL game. Amit Mishra bowled 18 dots for SRH against RR at this ground in 2013 while Ravichandran Ashwin bowled 18 dots in two different games.
20y 152d – At the age of 20 years and 152 days, Mayank Markande became the 3rd youngest player to take a 4-wicket haul in the IPL. Pawan Negi and Mitchell Marsh took a 4-wicket haul in the IPL before turning 20 years.
