The Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to eke out a narrow one wicket against the Mumbai Indians in their second game of the season. With the win, the Men in Orange now have two consecutive home wins this season. On the other hand, the defeat meant second straight defeat for the defending champions. It was a nail-biting contest on the cards on the day.

The match went till the last over and it was the number eleven batsman, Billy Stanlake, who hit a four off the final ball to seal the game for the Sunrisers. They won the game by one wicket. Also, it is worth noting that Deepak Hooda, who scored an unbeaten 32, needs to be lauded for his efforts in the match.

Earlier in the game, the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson had won the toss and he opted to bowl first. Billy Stanlake struck first blood for the hosts as he removed Rohit Sharma (11) in the second over of the game. Evin Lewis (29) and Ishan Kishan (9) then got going before Siddarth Kaul dismissed both batsmen in the space of five deliveries in the sixth over.

The wicket of Krunal Pandya fell soon after. Suryakumar Yadav (28 off 31 balls) and Kieron Pollard (28 off 23 balls) tried their best to resurrect their innings but the innings barely moved to a big score. The four overs of Rashid Khan in the middle overs yielded just 13 runs and that choked the run flow big time. The wickets kept tumbling and Mumbai Indians could eventually post 147/8 in their stipulated 20 overs.

In the run chase, the Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a flying start with openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shikhar Dhawan adding 62 runs in 41 deliveries for the first wicket. Mayank Markande then came in to bowl and the rookie bowler scalped four top order wickets to bring Mumbai Indians back in to the game.

Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 45 in just 28 deliveries, was the biggest scalp of the lot for young Markande. Mustafizur Rahman also joined the party and dismissed Kane Williamson cheaply on 6. The match headed to a close finish with SRH 107/5 in 13 overs. It was down to Yusuf Pathan and Deepak Hooda to play sensibly in the end to ensure that the Sunrisers crossed the target line in time.

The duo got going for a brief while to get SRH within two striking shots distance of a win. At that very moment, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Yusuf Pathan (14) and Rashid Khan (0) to swing the game again.
