Although the upcoming edition of the IPL is three months away, the anticipation surrounding it has already started. And in a stunt to garner more fan base and a rejuvenated look, chief IPL sponsor VIVO has roped in Aamir Khan for its grand campaign for the league. Khan, who is often referred to as ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ in the industry will be the new face of VIVO’s brand campaign.

The Chinese smartphone brand will be ending its ties with Ranveer Singh after 20 months of association if sources are to be believed. VIVO, like the IPL broadcaster Star India, has massive marketing plans around its most precious marketing property.

Aamir currently is among country’s top five brand icons in the list which is headed by India skipper Virat Kohli. Aamir almost a decade ago, in 2008 to be precise, was roped in by Samsung to promote its mobile handsets. China’s BBK Electronics owned Vivo, also recognized for its extremely aggressive marketing approach, will be seeking similar leverage from the Dangal star.

A senior source has confirmed to insidesport.co, “Vivo and Aamir Khan are working with the brand’s creative agency for the grand IPL campaign. Ranveer Singh is on his way out.

Incumbent Vivo had acquired the IPL title sponsorship rights in a Rs. 2,199 crore deal for a five-year cycle (2018-2022) at Rs. 440 crore per annum. The brand had held the same rights for the 2016 and 2017 seasons at Rs. 100 crore per annum.

IPL set to be bigger than ever

The new decade of IPL promises to reach the epitome of grandeur. With a plethora of players inducted in the auctions for the upcoming edition and a hike in the salary cap, the cash-rich league is set to be bigger than ever. The mega-auctions for IPL 2018 is slated to take place later this month

The upcoming season will also see the return of two former franchises in the fray. Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings who were serving a two-year ban will be making their return in the new decade of IPL.
