The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has started on an impressive note for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They have won three games thus far out of five and are currently sitting on the top of the ladder. They started the tournament with a resounding victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the iconic Eden Gardens.

Thereafter, they slumped to a couple of defeats against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) respectively. Against MS Dhoni’s men, Andre Russell destroyed the home team with a plethora of sixes, but Sam Billings’ gutsy knock during CSKs run chase, saw the Knights slump to their maiden defeat in the T20 league.

Thereafter, Kane Williamson’s team got a stranglehold on the Knights in Kolkata. The KKR spinners tried their hearts out to defend a modest total, but they couldn’t as the home team lost their second game in succession. However, they came back with a dominating performance against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur and emerged victorious by seven wickets.

Ajinkya Rahane and D’Arcy Short got the Royals’ off to a blistering start, but the Knights pulled them back with some accurate bowling after which they traced down the target with seven balls to spare. Following the victory, Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of the Knight Riders shared a delightful message for the players, which included the youngsters in Shubman Gill, Shivam Mavi and Tom Curran. Here is what he wrote

“So glad to see the babies r settling in, Curran Mavi & Gill. Dk Piyush Rana Kuldeep Robbie all showing the way to them. Sunil remains Sunil & Andre & Lynn ready to explode. Wow! Am I glad to be in ur team! #KKRHaiTaiyaar”
