The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a goldmine of prospects if you’re a newbie who wants the world to sit up and take notice of you. Every year, new talented players are spotted in the tournament and given an international platform to perform to the best of their ability for two months straight. However, not all the cricketers participating in the cricketing gala are able to fulfil their dream of taking the field.

On several occasions, players have remained benched for an entire season without a single game coming their way. More often than not, it’s because that particular franchise had already found the winning combination and wasn’t keen on tinkering with it. Let’s take a look at the 3 overseas players who failed to get a single game in IPL 2018.

1. Cameron Delport

29-year-old Cameron Delport must be woeful on not having been able to play for his national side, South Africa even once up till now. However, the all-rounder has played in several highly rated T20 leagues, including the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), the Big Bash League (BBL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). In the 139 T20s that he’s played, Delport has amassed 3224 runs along with 48 scalps.

When he was drafted in by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2018 auctions at his base price of INR 30 lakhs, Delport must have been extremely hopeful of making his debut into the foray of the exciting tournament in 2018. But it was not to be. The Protean didn’t get a single game out of the 16 matches that KKR played this season and will have to wait another year to make his IPL debut.
