Mumbai Indians surprised the opponents by picking a new-comer Mayank Markande in their playing XI. After two games he’s currently the purple cap holder with 7 wickets. However, his wicket tally failed to help his side win both the games. Mumbai lost both their games by just one wicket, keeping them at the 6th position on the points table.
Speaking about the season’s surprise package a young leg-spinner, Markande, KKR retained star player, a seasoned wrist spinner Piyush Chawla said that he watched Mayank Markande for the first time in the IPL and wished him good luck for the upcoming games in the season.
“I have seen him for the first time. I think he is doing very well and I wish him luck,” said Chawla as quoted by NDTV. The 20-year-old Markande returned with the figures of 3/23 against Chennai Super Kings and he was impressive against Sunrisers Hyderabad with a four-wicket haul giving just 23 runs.
Kuldeep Yadav opines
Another spinner, Kuldeep Yadav was also present at the event. He opined that the off-spinners with turn and variation can make a huge difference in the shortest format of the game. “As an off-spinner, if you’re getting turn and you have quite a good variation that really makes a difference in T20 format. That’s why the spinners are very successful in this format,” Yadav said.
