The 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to be big event yet again. The tournament is certainly going to be a grander event than the previous couple of editions in terms of the fans following the event. The two teams of the tournament – Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals – are all set to be back on the IPL roster this year.
The Royals looked very firm in their approach during the auctions this year. Prior to the auctions, they only retained one player, skipper Steve Smith. At the auctions, they managed to rope in the services of some of the core players of the Rajasthan Royals who had played for them in the 2015 edition of the tournament.
In addition to this, they made the headlines by roping in the services of star all-rounder Ben Stokes. The Royals will kick off their IPL 2018 campaign in an away fixture against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad. The match will be played on April 9 and will be a night game.
Much to the relief of the Royals camp, they will have the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur, as their home stadium for the tournament this year. The first home game for the Royals will be against the Delhi Daredevils on April 11. They will again head south to Bengaluru, where they will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 15 in their second away fixture.
They will then play the Kolkata Knight Riders in a home fixture a couple of days later. The last league game for Royals will be a home game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 19. In all, the Royals will have three day games to play in the season. Two of these matches will be played at Jaipur.
