Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have recently made their comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after serving a suspension of a couple of years. To add to their delight, they managed to humble the Mumbai Indians (MI) in a humdinger at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Meanwhile, the Cauvery Water Dispute, which started in 1892, has grabbed the headlines for quite a while now.

Meanwhile, the central government has struggled to set up the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) which hasn’t gone down well with Rajinikanth, the actor from the south. The veteran remarked that the grave issue deserves more attention than the IPL.  Subsequently, he wants the games of CSK to be shifted out of Chennai as per reports in International Business Times.

“Hoopla around IPL is embarrassing”- Rajinikanth

“At a time when the entire state is demanding the CMB, all the hype and hoopla around IPL is embarrassing. It will be good if there are no matches held in Chennai. If it cannot be done, at least to echo the sentiments of Tamil people and grab the attention of the entire nation, Chennai players can wear black armbands and play” Rajinikanth said.

Meanwhile, apart from the cricketers, he also wished for the fans and supporters to visit the stadium in order to protest against the matter. “I urge the BCCI, the IPL administrators and the team management of the CSK to accommodate this. Fans, including students and youngsters, can go to the stadium wearing black armbands as a mark of protest,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings will play their home game at the M.Chidambaram Stadium on April 10 against Dinesh Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). After beginning on a winning note, the franchise would be hoping to replicate their form and stamp their authority on the league.
