The Chennai Super Kings team is one of the most celebrated franchises of the Indian Premier League. It has always maintained a good fan connect and continue to entertain everybody with their performances on the field. They had a happy return after a two-year period as they clinched two back to back thrilling wins that saw fans go berserk.

CSK were without the services of Raina which meant that players like Dhoni and Jadeja needed to step up. They were facing the Kings XI in Mohali and the game promised to be another encounter that would go down to the wire. This time the yellow army failed to pull things back and even an MS Dhoni brilliance did not take them over the line.

Jadeja not at his best

Several questions have risen over the position of Ravindra Jadeja in the batting line-up who comes in before the hard-hitting Bravo. “It’s a difficult one. And Fleming is in the dugout, so he needs to take that decision. And, we have confidence in Jadeja also, one of the reasons is that being a left-hander, it’s not easy to consistently bowl to a left-hander and also this is the time that we can give him that opportunity to express himself.” said Dhoni in the post-match presentation.

Jadeja hit a six in CSK’s last match against KKR to take his side over the line. However, he is currently not at his best as he is leaking away too many runs while bowling and is not able to find the middle of the bat on several occasions. Dhoni has backed Jadeja to do the job and will continue to provide him with similar opportunities in future so that he gains confidence and returns to his best.

“If he doesn’t do [it]. Bravo is an experienced one, he can always go back and do the job for us. But overall, Jadeja is somebody who can do it for us. Unless we give him an opportunity; so far we have never really given him the kind of opportunity that he really deserves, so I will definitely back him to come good in the coming games.” Dhoni added.  Chennai Super Kings have four days off before their next game which will allow them to regroup and work on their strategies.
