IPL 2018: Shane Watson in awe of MS Dhoni's calmness

The Chennai Super Kings are having a merry time in the Indian Premier League this season. They have managed to stay in the top four of the points table for the entire duration of the tournament played thus far. Their skipper MS Dhoni has led them from the front and the senior members like Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu have stepped up to take responsibilities when the team has needed them.

Recently, after the match against the Delhi Daredevils, Shane Watson spoke at length about his game and the leadership of MS Dhoni in a conversation with the IPLt20.com. Watson remarked that it is the calmness of MS Dhoni that has overawed him a great deal. He chuckled that it is unbelievable to see him stay so calm in all the situations.

Furthermore, he added that “playing for CSK means a lot to him (Dhoni)”. Watson revealed that he has not got a lot of chance to talk to MSD off the field at breakfast or any other outings. This is largely because Dhoni absolutely loves his sleep and does not like compromising on it, Watson joked.

On age being just a number

When the tournament commenced, many had mocked the Chennai Super Kings as a team full of senior players. Many felt that they will not be able to last long in the season but the older men have proved everyone wrong. The senior players have contributed heavily and are essentially the core components of the setup for the returning franchise.

Commenting on the same, Shane Watson noted that the age is just a number. He gets a lot of motivation from MS Dhoni. He added that the way Dhoni is still hitting the fall so well and the way he plans out which bowlers to target and lines them up in crunch situations is totally amazing. “MS Dhoni’s aura has rubbed off on me as well,” conceded the former Australian cricketer.
