When Delhi Daredevils (DD) stacked up against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday, there was a sense of Deja Vu for the fans. The favourite son of the City Gautam Gambhir was back at the Eden Gardens but was playing against them. Even the players like Robin Uthappa, Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine would’ve felt the same as their skipper was donning the different jersey and was leading the other team this time around. However, Narine has given an insight into how he felt while playing against his ex-captain in KKR side who won them the coveted trophy twice.

As it turned out, Gambhir failed to deliver the victory for his side and the hosts thumped them by a whopping 71 runs in a one-sided encounter. The skipper failed with the bat as well scoring only 8 runs and couldn’t take the advantage of his experience of playing at the venue from last few years. In the process, Narine became the first overseas spinner in the IPL to scalp 100 wickets.

Its part and parcel of the game

Sunil Narine and Gautam Gambhir were seen involved in a long chat ahead of the game. Even the latter had expressed his excitement after landing in Kolkata the other day with the CEO of KKR also welcoming their most successful skipper. Narine, however, admitted that it was a little weird feeling to play against the cricketer after plying under him for so many years.

“It felt a little weird knowing Gambhir was on the opposite side. But that’s cricket (team without Gambhir), that’s part and parcel of the game, we all put heart and soul into the game and he now belongs to another team,” he said while he was presented with a purple cap by Ian Bishop after the game. As far as the match is concerned, Narine continued his brilliant form with the ball in hand and scalped 3 wickets in the game and didn’t allow the opposition to come back in the game.
