The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 saw an even contest between bat and ball. We had several matches where batsmen hammered the bowlers to all parts of the ground while in other matches, they remained clueless to some top class bowling. The IPL 2018 proved that T20 cricket is not all about power hitting. Having bowlers who can deliver the goods is also a prerequisite to achieving favourable results.

The Chennai Super Kings were the best batting side in the IPL while the Sunrisers Hyderabad were the best bowling side. Eventually, the Yellow army overpowered the Orange army and won their third IPL title. The Sunrisers impressed everyone will some top quality bowling throughout the season. Skipper Kane Williamson and his men defended the lowest of totals on several occasions as the opposition were clueless against their energetic bowling brigade.

A lot of positives can be taken from this season

Tom Moody, head coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad took to Twitter to thank the fans for supporting them throughout the season and promised to go one step further next time around. He wrote: “A special thank you to all our wonderful supporters, it’s been a memorable #IPL2018 for us all. One step further next year #orangearmy #onwardsandupwards.”

SRH were the best team in the league stages as they finished at the top of the points table. Williamson and Rashid Khan were the two standout performers for them this season. The franchise performed very well even as they lost the services of David Warner before the start of the tournament itself.

Kane Williamson ensured that SRH do not miss Warner as he also led them from the front with his batting. They were a little off color in the latter half of the tournament and lost four matches in a row and that eventually cost them the title.
