Mumbai was chasing 170 runs and could only manage 69 runs in 9.5 overs. The MI skipper came to the crease when the visitors needed 111 runs off 61 balls. Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed by Harbhajan Singh and Rohit had Evin Lewis at the other end who couldn’t time the ball properly. In the last 23 balls, following the dismissal of Lewis, Mumbai was left with 42 runs.
The 31-year old didn’t lose his cool and raced away to a fifty in 31 balls. In the penultimate over, he manoeuvred the field and hit Shardul Thakur for four boundaries. The over fetched 19 runs, and the fate of the match was decided in that over itself. He was deservingly crowned as the Player of the Match.

Dinesh Karthik hasn’t got the massive scores under his belt but has played some useful knocks for the Kolkata Knight Riders lower down the order. He is currently the leading run-scorer for the Knights and has been among their most dependable batsmen.
He notched a useful hand of 45 runs from 18 balls against the Chennai Super Kings to help his team to victory at the Eden Gardens. He took charge with the score at 97/4 in 11.4 overs and when KKR needed 81 runs off 50 balls. He had Shubman Gill at the other end, who was playing without much fuss.
The stand played until the very end and guided the home team over the finishing line. He smoked seven boundaries and one six in his knock. Most importantly, the blitz helped the Men in Gold and Purple trace the target with 16 balls to spare.
