The 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to kick off with the defending champions Mumbai Indians locking horns with the Chennai Super Kings in the season opener. The match will be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium and will be preceded by a star-studded openning ceremony. While the top cricketers will be a part of the IPL roster this year, there are a few other talented players who have missed the bus this time around.

Several big names went unsold at the IPL 2018 auctions this year. The likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ishant Sharma are planning County stint during the same time to keep themselves engaged. Meanwhile, there is another lot of players who have found a new role this season. Some of the biggest names are set to be a part of the commentary panel this season.

The official broadcasters, Star India, have planned to showcase the marquee tournament in six different languages. In the Bengali commentary, Ashoke Dinda is set to make his debut. He will be joining the likes of former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly in the comm box. Meanwhile, the Kannada version of the telecast will be aired on Star Suvarna Plus.

The commentary panel of this telecast will feature the current lot of domestic cricketers like Akhil Balachandra. Similarly, in the Telugu panel, Venugopal Rao will be heard commentating. The Tamill version of the broadcast looks more dynamic with the likes of Abhinav Mukund and S Badrinath joining the former cricketers K Srikkanth and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.

Big names in Hindi commentary panel

And finally, in the Hindi commentary, the current lot of players, including the big names of Irfan Pathan, RP Singh, Abhishek Nayar, Pragyan Ojha, and Rajat Bhatia, will be joining the commentary team. It is heart warming to see the players still willing to stay in touch with the tournament despite not being a part of the on-field action.
