Star India boasts of a whopping 60% share of cricket broadcast in the world

Cricket on the pitch undoubtedly holds significance and players are responsible to entertain the audience across the globe. However, broadcasting of the games is of equal importance as they make the game available to those who aren’t present at the venue. There have also been a significant amount of hype surrounding the broadcasting rights.

Star India has been a prominent media house for a long while as is one of the biggest organization in sports broadcasting. It has recently won the rights for bilateral matches in India for a significant Rs 6138 crores, which will amount to a world record of 61.17 crores per match, which is 18 crores more than what they paid from 2014 onwards.

Meanwhile, as per reports in India Sports, Star India has a control over 60 of cricket broadcasting. All matches surrounding the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) would be telecasted on Star Sports. Moreover, the Indian Premier League (IPL) would also be shown on Star Sports, which is a massive boost for the media company.

Star Sports bagged the IPL rights from 2018-2022 for a substantial 16347 crores last year. The channels will also telecast cricket in New Zealand, Bangladesh and also the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, Sony Six and Sony ESPN will telecast games in South Africa, Pakistan, Windies, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, England, Australia. The most awaited Ashes will indeed be telecasted in Sony.

Also, domestic T20 tournaments like the Big Bash League (BBL) and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) would also be shown in Sony. However, there won’t be any triangular series during this while due to the BCCI offering similar fees in India and non-India games. Star Sports upcoming assignment will be the eleventh season of the IPL which starts on April 7.
