Parthiv Patel played his maiden game for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in this season’s Indian Premier League (IPL). Quinton de Kock missed the game due to unforeseen circumstances, which made the franchise draft in the Indian wicket-keeper batsman. The decision paid dividends as he scored a magnificent half-century when wickets fell like nine pins from the other end.

The knock turned out to be a crucial one, which guided RCB to a respectable total. The Ahmedabad-born cricketer was eventually dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja in the 13th over. However, he didn’t have an auspicious day with his keeping prowess. In the seventh over, he missed a run-out opportunity of Suresh Raina. Murugan Ashwin hurled the ball at the striker’s end, but Parthiv was unable to gather the ball.

The crucial chances which Parthiv Patel missed

Raina scored 11 more runs thereafter, which were a substantial amount of runs in the context of the game. The 33-year old’s misery didn’t end there as in the 13th over, he grassed the chance of dismissing Dwayne Bravo when Virat Kohli’s men were in dire requisite of a wicket. Colin de Grandhomme churned out a short and wide delivery and Bravo tried to smack it through the off side.

The ball took a thick outside-edge of his willow, however, Patel was unable to latch on to the opportunity. The Trinidadian cricketer ensured that he stayed till the very end and help Chennai romp to the seventh victory of the season. MS Dhoni was also dropped once by Yuzvendra Chahal after which the Yellow Army didn’t suffer any hiccup in the road to their win.

Meanwhile, Twitter was definitely not happy with Parthiv Patel owing to his poor show as the keeper. Subsequently, he was bashed and ridiculed by the public.
