IPL 2018: Umesh Yadav dedicates his purple cap to a special person

Though Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are reeling down the bottom half of the table, Umesh Yadav has been performing consistently for them. His bowling has risen a level higher in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is no surprise that he has bagged the purple cap for becoming the highest wicket-taker of the tournament so far. However, he was delighted after getting it and dedicated the cap to his wife.

Umesh has been bowling extremely well in every game and has been among the wickets more often than not. While he had scalped the key wickets against Mumbai Indians (MI) while defending the total, he once again rose to the occasion against CSK. This time he sent back the likes of Shane Watson and Suresh Raina to climb the ladder and take the honours.

Thanked Nehra for helping

Umesh Yadav has so far picked 13 wickets in 9 matches at an economy rate of 8.05 and was delighted after winning the purple cap. He also credited Ashish Nehra, the bowling coach and mentor of RCB, for helping him. “Feeling nice. I knew one thing, that I have pace. So I have been concentrating on line and length. Nehra paaji is helping me with it,” he was quoted as saying by India Today.

He also went on to say that these performances are raising his confidence a lot which will eventually help him in the near future. “This is good for me and getting a lot of confidence (from my performances). This purple cap is for my wife, who has been asking me when are you going to get the purple cap,” Yadav added.

Unfortunately, his heroics are not winning RCB the games and they now have to win all the remaining matches in order to qualify for the playoffs.
