The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League has gone from bad to worse for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They have won three out of their ten matches and are standing at the threshold of elimination before the playoffs. The franchise has been brilliant in patches but hasn’t been able to compile team performances in order for them to garner any sort of momentum for the team.

They played their last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad where they slumped to yet another comprehensive defeat. Their explosive batting lineup imploded perilously and couldn’t pose any threat to the might of the Sunrisers bowling. The likes of Rashid Khan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar restricted them from unleashing their strokes.

RCB’s fight to defy the inevitable

The franchise is all but eliminated from the tournament and needs to win all their remaining games to manufacture an outside chance of qualifying for the top four. Moreover, they also need to hope for the other results to go in their favour in order for them to defy the odds. Their next game is against the Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla and a drubbing there would officially oust them from the event.

Virat Kohli, the skipper of the team, has been phenomenal with the bat and is currently their leading run-scorer in their dismal campaign. The 29-year old turk has 396 runs to his team at an average of 49.50. Moreover, he is fifth on the list of the highest run-getters in the mega event. The string of defeats has definitely disappointed Kohli, who is playing his tenth season for the franchise.

However, the losses haven’t been able to disturb the unity within the team. Virat has always displayed a go-getter attitude in his career and he is not someone to drop the gun after a few disappointing outings. The Delhi-born cricketer has recently taken to Instagram and dropped a message which should be a motivational tonic for the team as well as the fans.

Here’s the post on his profile

Win or lose, We stick together!
