Chris Gayle has been in prime form for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the auction leading to the event, it took three attempts for a franchise to eventually bag him at his base price. However, Gayle hasn’t let his team down by any means and has been a brute force at the top of the order for the oppositions to reckon with.

The Jamaican was left out from the playing eleven in the first couple of games but was drafted in against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and he responded with a quick-fire half century. The left-handed batsman responded with the maiden hundred of the tournament against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and got another half century against Kolkata Knight Riders. Subsequently, he also received a couple of Man of the Match awards as well.

“Really happy for him”- Yuvi

Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh, his teammate is thoroughly enjoying the exhibition by the Windies batsman. “Oh, I am loving it. Chris has always been a friend off the field. He has been a great batsman, probably one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world and performing like a boss on the field. I am really happy for him and the way he is batting,” the veteran Indian was quoted as saying by India TV.

The all-rounder also talked about the fickle nature of the shortest format of the game. Moreover, he also hailed the Kolkata Knight Riders and CSK as two of the better teams in the league. “T20 cricket is unpredictable. Anybody can win on any day. But Chennai has always been a very consistent team and KKR has been playing really well. I think these are two really good teams in the IPL,” he mentioned.

Punjab have been clinical thus far in the tournament with four resounding victories in five games. KL Rahul and Chris Gayle have unfolded mayhem through their blistering style of play which has tormented the oppositions. They are touted to be the favourites to win the title and rightly so, bearing in mind their firepower in the lineup.
