The Indian Premier League (IPL) will kick off on Saturday with a clash between two of the top teams – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s side looks favourite in the game which will be played at their home while for RCB, the challenge will be to register a win over an opponent which they haven’t beaten since 2014.

The experts are busy predicting the teams and the result of the high-voltage clash between the sides led by Dhoni and Virat Kohli and among them, former India opener Aakash Chopra has also come up with his probable CSK XI for the RCB clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Shane Watson & Ambati Rayudu openers for Chopra

Chopra, who played in the IPL in the earlier editions, picked Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu as openers for the game. While Watson hit a magnificent century in the final last year to give the CSK their third title, Rayudu also had a productive season with the bat (over 600 runs with one ton). The latter though didn’t have a great run with the bat in international cricket of late, still his performance in the tournament last year saw him earning a berth in the playing XI conceived by Chopra.

Chopra next brings in South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis at No.3 followed by the CSK’s evergreen man Suresh Raina and skipper Dhoni. That middle-order looks solid even though du Plessis did not play much in the last season but had a productive run in international cricket despite some injury breaks. Raina, the highest scorer in the IPL and 15 runs short of 5,000 runs has always been one of the Super Kings’ mainstays and so is Dhoni who also had a great time with the bat in 2018.

Chopra then picks up batting all-rounder Kedar Jadhav at No.6, Caribbean T20 stalwart Dwayne Bravo at No.7 and spinner-all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja at No.8. The former cricketer picked an overseas player in Imran Tahir as the second spinner in the side and then completed the line-up with two local pacers in Deepak Chahar and Mohit Sharma.
