IPL 2019: All about nerves bowling to Andre Russell, says SRH coach Tom Moody
"He is such a destructive player."

It won’t be an understatement, saying that Andre Russell has been a lone warrior for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in most of the games in the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Almost every other time he has batted, the 30-year-old hulk-like Jamaican has unfolded utter mayhem in the opposition dugout and has dragged his team out of a hopeless situation.
He is currently KKR’s leading run-scorer this season with 377 runs at an average of 75.40 and a strike-rate of 220.46. Moreover, he has plundered 39 sixes and has been unstoppable. The Knights are next scheduled to play the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the RGI Stadium in Hyderabad and SRH head coach Tom Moody believes that one needs to hold its nerve while bowling to Andre Russell.
“I think, he alone influenced most of the wins they had. Last night (against RCB) it was not quite enough to get over the line. He is such a destructive player that it is all about holding your nerves under enormous pressure and trusting your plans,” Moody was quoted as saying to the media ahead of the all-important clash in Hyderabad.
Every match is crucial for us
The Sunrisers lost three matches in a row, but made a comeback against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their last home match and won the game by six wickets. Nevertheless, the Kane Williamson-captained team is languishing at the bottom half of the table and needs to string a few more wins in their next six round-robin encounters in order to progress to the playoffs.
Speaking about their upcoming matches, Moody mentioned: “Every match is crucial for us. We have confidence in the depth of the squad and can fill those vacancies. Only the team’s balance and approach might differ but it doesn’t mean we are going to be a weaker side.”
