When it comes to entertaining the fans, the Indian Premier League (IPL) always lives up to its billings. The biggest and most successful cricket league in the world has set an example for other countries. Every summer, the big names from across the globe flock to India to play in the lucrative league. The high-quality cricket, jam-packed stadiums and several other factors makes IPL a special spectacle.
The fans can now brace up for more entertainment in the upcoming season of the IPL. According to a report by Latestly, Star Sports, the official broadcaster of IPL, has collaborated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to make the upcoming edition interesting for the fans with an artificial intelligence-powered training installation that is being developed by Google. And one such innovation was seen in Delhi during the IPL 2019 trophy tour.
The trophy tour started on Sunday and will travel to each franchise city. The fans will have an opportunity to get their hands on the coveted cup they would want their favourite team to lift. Along with laying the hands on the trophy, the fans will have a chance to experience how good their cricketing skills are.
At the Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, fans experienced a new and evolved platform called the ‘AI Coach’, which compared their shots and skills with their favourite players. The fans had the chance to try out MS Dhoni‘s Helicopter shot, Virat Kohli’s cover drive, Rohit Sharma’s pull and several other trademark shots of their favourite stars. The fans then compared their shots to a video shot of the cricketer they selected.
Schedule of the league phase announced
The BCCI, on Tuesday, announced the full schedule of the league stage. The board had already announced the schedule for the first two weeks but was waiting for the general elections dates to come out in order to chalk out the remainder of the schedule.
The tournament will start on March 23 with defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore. The league phase will end on May 5. The schedule for the playoffs and final is yet to be announced.
