The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is all set to take place on December 18 in Jaipur as a total of 346 players will go under the hammer. Nine players are in the marquee list this time around with the base price of Rs 2 crores. Among them is the South African player Colin Ingram who has been setting the stage on fire in the T20 leagues across the world.

With the foreign players set to leave the IPL midway due to the World Cup which is scheduled to take place soon after the tournament, the franchises will look to buy those who will stay for the whole season. Ingram, who has stopped playing cricket for South Africa after taking the Kolpak route in 2014, is expected to be on the top of many team’s list.

He has experience of playing in a massive 202 T20s and has amassed more than 5000 runs at an impeccable strike-rate of close to 140. Moreover, the left-hander is in great touch with the willow tearing apart the bowling attacks at will. He is most likely to be one of the most sought after players in the auction next week.

Ingram wants to return to IPL

Meanwhile, Colin Ingram himself has expressed his excitement to play in the cash-rich tournament. The list of players going under the hammer was confirmed earlier this week and the 33-year-old is one of the marquee players who has earned a reputation of a big hitter over the last few months once again. He had gone unsold in the mega auction in January this year and clearly is confident of playing in the next season it seems.

Not that, Ingram hasn’t played in the T20 extravaganza before. He was part of the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2011 and featured in three matches. But unfortunately, could muster only 21 runs only to be not considered ever again. Things have changed now and it looks like he will be one of the most expensive players in the auction.
