The Indian Premier League (IPL) which started off in 2008 hasn’t lost its charm and popularity in 11 years. In fact, with the 12th edition knocking at the door, the IPL fervour has been seen to be better than ever. To further grow this IPL zest and spread it across all parts of the country, the BCCI initiated the IPL Fan Parks- for the first time in 2015- to bring fans closer to the real action of the cricket league, emulating a stadium-like ambience.

To achieve this, each IPL Parks venue will broadcast all the live action of the IPL on giant TV screens, producing a stadium-like feel for fans substantially in their decks. The entry, in fact, is also free and moreover, there will be music and various stalls for merchandise, food, beverages and other activations by IPL’s official sponsors, which will add to the charged environment.

The IPL’s Fan Parks, an effort of the BCCI have therefore been a huge success with the administration now stretching over 21 states and 36 cities, where people don’t get a chance to see the IPL action first hand. The goal of this concept is reaching thousands of Indians and defying boundaries and the Indian board has never backed from it. In order to continue the growth, 1 new state and 8 new cities have been added this year, the official IPL website confirmed on Friday.

New lucky prize contest incorporated to Fan Park viewings

In the last four years, Fan Parks have covered 65 cities and this season the VIVO IPL Fan Parks have extended its tracks to further areas. Spread across 21 states and covering 36 cities, Fan Park 2019 looks to cover territories with otherwise restricted prospects of witnessing the action. Hence, attempting to cause a cultural and pleasant addition through fellowship viewing of matches. The newest state to which IPL Fan Parks has spread its wings is Sikkim.

The new locations, that are hundreds of miles away from the live action, but are added to the list this year are: Tezpur, Gangtok, Bhilai, Una, Shimoga, Tirunelveli, Madurai and Trichy. To add some additional excitement, those attending the Fan Park community viewings this year will be eligible for a lucky prize which will include exclusive IPL merchandise and a cool smartphone from VIVO, the title sponsors of the IPL.
