Chennai Super Kings will be without their veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh for their upcoming clash against Kolkata Knight Riders. Missing the veteran spinner for the crunch clash will be a big blow for the defending champions. Harbhajan has been in sensational form this season and has played an integral role in the team’s solid start to the season. The Super Kings are perched at the top of the points table with 6 wins from their opening seven games and are all but assured of a spot in the playoffs.

Harbhajan has been a stand-out performer for the Super Kings so far.  In four matches so far, he has picked up seven wickets as well as two Man of the Match awards. In fact, he had starred with the ball when Knight Riders and Super Kings locked horns in Chennai earlier this week. The off-spinner had picked conceded just 15 runs from his four overs while dismissing the dangerous Sunil Narine in his very first over and Piyush Chawla.

He, however, has pulled out of the game at the Knight Riders due to a neck injury as well as some family issues. Harbhajan revealed that he was set to play against Rajasthan Royals too but had to skip that game due to neck pain. He further said that his wife and daughter are not well and so he will be taken care of them in Mumbai.

“I was supposed to play in Jaipur against Rajasthan Royals but in the morning of the game, I had severe neck pain and had to pull out,” Harbhajan Singh was quoted by Sportstar. “Both my wife and daughter are not keeping well. I am in Mumbai taking care of my family. Once they get well, I will join the team back,” he added.

If all goes well, Harbhajan is likely to join the Super Kings for the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 17.

Chennai Super Kings eye revenge:

In-form Super Kings will be looking to avenge their loss last season when a fifty from Shubman Gill had helped Knight Riders thrash the visitors by 6 wickets at the Eden Gardens. The momentum is firmly with the Super Kings at the moment and they will be looking to make the most of it.
