Mumbai Indians’ fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is excited to be part of the three-time IPL winning franchise for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Mumbai Indians have won the IPL in 2013, 2015 and 2017 and Bumrah has been part of the team in all the three title wins.

He was picked by the Mumbai Indians’ talent scouts and ushered into the MI fold in 2013. He got to play just two games in IPL 2013 and picked three wickets, but his unique action, coupled with an amazing attitude made him an instant sensation.

Since then, Bumrah has become an inseparable part of the MI franchise and has been retained before every auction only for the fast bowler to repay the faith with 63 wickets in 61 matches in the league with a best of 3/7 and an economy of 7.79.

Bumrah joins MI camp

The amazing fast bowler announced his joining to the Mumbai Indians camp for the IPL 2019 edition with an image on his official Twitter account. Jasprit Bumrah will be shouldering the fast bowling attack along with Mitchell McClenaghan and a returning Lasith Malinga, who was MI’s bowling mentor in IPL 2018.

Bumrah is also certainty in the Indian team’s World Cup squad and it will be interesting to see how the Mumbai Indians team management handles his workload throughout the tournament. He had been rested from the limited-overs tours of Australia and New Zealand and returned to the Indian team for the home ODI series against Australia.

MI coach Mahela Jayawardene had opined that it will be beneficial for Bumrah to play as much as possible in the IPL 2019 to keep himself in the rhythm going into the ICC World Cup. “I think your best players need to play. They can’t stay at home and turn up and perform. It’s about that fine balance and as long as we can manage that, they will be fine,” Jayawardene was quoted saying by India Today.
