IPL 2019: Kings XI Punjab appoint a new support staff for the upcoming season

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is already buzzing with more than three months to go. All the teams are preparing for the upcoming auction which will take place on December 18 in Jaipur. Meanwhile, Delhi Daredevils changed their name to the Delhi Capitals on Tuesday and now the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has revamped their whole support staff after appointing a new coach Mike Hesson for the next season.

The franchise has roped in the former Australian pacer Ryan Harris as their bowling coach who will replace Venkatesh Prasad at the position. Apart from Harris, the former New Zealand cricketer Craig McMillan will be joining the team as the fielding coach while Brett Harrop (physio), Sridharan Sriram (batting coach) and Prasanna Raman (high-performance coach) have also been added to the support staff as a part of the next edition of the cash-rich league.

Harris and McMillan great asset to the team

KXIP head coach Mike Hesson who replaced Brad Hodge at the helm was happy to have roped in the likes of Harris and McMillan in the coaching staff. He hailed the duo’s contribution to the game at the highest level and was confident about them being an asset to the team.

“Having quality coaches like Harris and McMillan will be a great asset to the team. They have both performed as players on the big stage and have made the transition into quality coaches. They will be excellent additions to the coaching team,” Hesson was quoted as saying by Times Now.

It is surprising to see the KXIP revamp their coaching staff as Brad Hodge was given a three-year contract while appointing him last year. But after the team failed to qualify for the playoffs, he was sacked and the same was the case with Virender Sehwag who worked as the mentor and Head of Cricket Operations of the franchise.
