The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are all set to play the opening match of this edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL). The game will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, CSK’s fortress, however, it’s definitely not a happy hunting ground for Virat Kohli and Co. The Challengers last won at the venue way back in the inaugural season of 2008.

Moreover, they have lost six matches in a row against the Super Kings and their last victory came back in 2014 in Ranchi. The fortunes of both teams have also been contrasting. Even as CSK has won three championships, RCB are yet to get their hands on the coveted trophy and have been the under-achievers in the IPL despite boasting of some of the most prominent names in the cricketing world.

Pitch and Conditions

The temperatures won’t be on the higher side with the same hovering around the 29-degree mark. Nevertheless, the humidity level is expected to take a toll on the wickets. Nevertheless, the pitch is speculated to be a good one for batting, though the spinners may come into play in the second half.
