The Sunrisers Hyderabad dominated Royal Challengers Bangalore who suffered their 3rd straight defeat of the season. The opening pair of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner didn’t offer a chance to the visiting team as they put on a record 185-run stand in quick time. Bairstow, in his 3rd IPL game, scored his maiden ton while Warner also finished with 100* to take SRH to 231/2. The RCB were reduced to 34/6 at one stage but the little contributions from the lower order saved them from a bigger humiliation.

A record victory:

118 – For the first time in the IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad won by a margin of 100+ runs. Their previous biggest victory margin in terms of runs was 85 runs against the Mumbai Indians during the 2016 season. This is also the biggest defeat for RCB in the IPL since losing the inaugural match in 2008 by 140 runs against KKR.


The record-breaking pair:

1 – David Warner and Jonny Bairstow became the first pair in the history of the IPL to share three consecutive century partnerships. The duo added 118 and 110 runs in the first two matches of the season respectively against the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals.

A Nabi special:

4/11 – Mohammad Nabi’s bowling figures of 4/11 in this game are the second best bowling figures for the Sunrisers in IPL. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 5/19 against Kings XI Punjab during the 2017 edition in Hyderabad are the best figures for the SRH.


A new youngster in the IPL:

16y 157d – At the age of 16 years and 157 days, Prayas Ray Barman became the youngest player to feature in an IPL match. The previous youngest player to be part of an IPL game was Mujeeb ur Rahman who 17 years and 11 days old when he made his IPL debut while playing for Kings XI Punjab in the previous edition.


56 – The 56 runs by Prayas Barman in this game are the 3rd most by any bowler on his IPL debut. Michael Neser in the 2013 edition for KXIP and Mashrafe Mortaza during the 2009 season for KKR conceded 62 and 58 runs respectively.


Warner dominates the big stands:

10David Warner has featured in ten opening partnership of 100+ in the IPL; the most by any player. He went past Chris Gayle (9) with the record stand with Jonny Bairstow. Warner has been a part of all the nine opening stands in the IPL of Sunrisers.


18 – Warner involved in as many as 18 century partnerships for any wicket in the IPL; the joint-most by any player in the league. Chris Gayle has also been involved in 18 partnerships of 100+ in the IPL.
