The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will lock horns in the match 18 of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Both the teams have six points to their name after four matches but the visitors are one spot ahead of their opponents’ thanks to their better net run-rate. CSK lost the game against Mumbai Indians (MI) by a big margin of 37 runs and that has cost them. But they will feel better coming back home playing in front of a massive crowd.

For KXIP, at the moment, it is the game of confidence which is extremely high. But it won’t be easy for them to get past the Men in Yellow. More than anyone, they will have to make sure that Suresh Raina doesn’t get a start. Batting at three for his entire IPL career, the southpaw is coming back to his old touch slowly but surely this year and this might just be the game for Raina to be amongst the runs. KXIP are his favourite opponents and the CSK will hope that he clicks on the day.

Record against the opposition (KXIP):

Raina seriously likes playing against the Kings XI it seems. He has so far amassed 744 runs in 21 innings at an average of close to 44 and the strike-rate of 155.32. The left-hander also has a century to his name against them to go with three fifty-plus scores.

Last 5 innings vs KXIP – 61*, 39, 32, 18, 20

Record at the venue (Chepauk, Chennai):

It will be fitting if Suresh Raina finds form for CSK at the Chepauk. Batting 54 times at the venue, he has scored 1458 runs while scoring a ton and seven fifties.

T20 format – 54innings, 1458 runs, 29.75 average, 134.25 S/R, 1 century, 7 fifties.

Recent form:

Raina hasn’t scored a half-century in his last six IPL innings. Having said that, he has got a start in all of them and might be just one knock way from hitting the purple patch. At the Wankhede, he was undone by a spectacular catch by Kieron Pollard.

Last 5 innings across all formats – 16, 36, 30, 19, 5

Last 7 innings in the IPL – 16, 36, 30, 19, 32, 22, 61*

Dream11 Scenario:

Suresh Raina costs 9.5 credits in the batsmen category and looking at the record, one should have him in the Fantasy team. He has already been picked in 79% of the teams.
