The Rajasthan Royals challenge was a little too easy for the Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR romped home in fine fashion in yet another encounter of IPL 2019. Unlike their previous games, this did not go down the wire, and the Knight Riders thoroughly dominated the proceedings of the match. Having won the toss, they had no hesitation in asking the home side to bat first. The spinners dictated terms in the match and the Royals could hardly get going.

Jos Buttler and Steve Smith added 72 runs for the second wicket but the rate at which they moved showed how good the KKR bowling was. Buttler perished in his attempt to accelerate but Smith went on to score a fine unbeaten 73 off 59 deliveries. He fought a lone battle as Rajasthan finished with 139/3 on the board. The target was never going to be a tough one for a star-studded KKR batting lineup.

Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn unleashed an absolute carnage with the bat to take the game away. Narine missed out on his fifty but Lynn achieved the milestone. It was only a matter of time that the visitors got over the line. KKR won the match by 8 wickets. The Rajasthan Royals are in a spot of bother now as they still languish at the 7th spot in the points table.

Here are the KKR Player Ratings for the match:

Sunil Narine – 9/10

The cricketing fraternity awaited the Andre Russell storm in Jaipur but it was the other Caribbean star that lighted up the stands on the day. Sunil Narine blasted the RR’s new ball bowlers to all parts of the park. Narine scored a quick 47 ofjustsy 25 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes to his name. It was Narine’s show that took the game away from the Royals. Earlier in the game, Narine bowled his full quota of four overs and was quite economical, giving away 22 runs.

Chris Lynn – 9/10

Chris Lynn continued his good run with the bat in this match as well. Lynn added 91 runs off just 51 deliveries with Sunil Narina for the opening stand. The opening stand pretty much dictated the end result of the match. Lynn perished after scoring a well compiled fifty. He looked well set at the crease and his form is a big plus for the KKR camp. The Aussie batter scored 50 off just 32 deliveries with 6 fours and 3 sixes to his name. Lynn was certainly a little lucky in the innings and had the stars aligned on his side, but one cannot take any credit away from him.

Robin Uthappa – 8/10

Robin Uthappa walked in to bat in the 9th over with the scoreboard already having 91 runs on it. The stage was ideally set up by the openers and the veteran Indian batter only had to complete the proceedings and formalities of the match. Robin hit an unbeaten 36 off just 16 deliveries studded with a four and a couple of sixes to see his side over the line with 8 wickets in hand.

Nitish Rana – Not Assigned

The services of Nitish Rana were not need with the bat in this game.

Dinesh Karthik – 5/10

Dinesh Karthik did not get an opportunity to bat in this match. But Karthik made his presence felt with his captaincy. The way he handled his bowlers was very impressive. The timely introduction of spinners paid rich dividends for KKR. Karthik also backed his bowlers, Prasidh Krishna in particular, when the pacer got a little off-track with extras being conceded in the end overs.

Andre Russell – Not Assigned

The fans will have to wait another day to see Andre Russell strike big. He did not get a chance to bat in this game.

Shubman Gill – 5/10

Shubman Gill was promoted up the order in this match. The idea was quite clear – to give some time in the middle to the youngster. The target was well within the reach when Gill walked in to bat. He remained unbeaten on 6 as KKR crossed the line with 8 wickets in hand.

Piyush Chawla – 8/10

Piyush Chawla had a wonderful time with the ball in hand. Piyush bowled in the powerplay and took the RR batters by surprise. The RR batters looked clueless against his leg spin and even an in-form batter like Jos Buttler struggled to get going against Chawla. Although he failed to pick up any wicket, Chawla was very impressive with his spell of four overs that conceded only 19 runs.

Kuldeep Yadav – 4/10

Kuldeep Yadav has not quite been at his very best in this season of the IPL. He had yet another off day at work today. He was quite expensive in the four overs that he bowled. The batsmen seemed to have deciphered his tricks well enough and negotiated him with ease. In the four overs that Kuldeep bowled, he conceded 33 runs and failed to pick up any wicket.

Harry Gurney – 8.5/10

Harry Gurney is a new name for the Indian cricket fans. Gurney is a veteran in English domestic cricket circuit. The talented pace bowler made his IPL debut in this match. He had a wonderful time with the ball and he bowled his complete quota of overs. He finished with 2/25 to his name and bagged the big wickets of Jos Buttler and Rahul Tripathi. His strikes dented the Royals’ march in the innings.

Prasidh Krishna – 7/10

Prasidh Krishna was the most expensive bowler in the KKR lineup today. He had a good start with the new ball in hand and sent Ajinkya Rahane packing on his very first ball of the match. Bowling with Piyush Chawla in the powerplay, he ensured that the Royals did not get off to a flying start, and restricted them to just 28 runs. However, Prasidh turned expensive in the end overs. Also, he gave away four extras (two wides and two no-balls) towards the end overs. He finished with 1/35 to his name in 4 overs.
