The Chennai Super Kings (CSK), like the Delhi Capitals (DC), have done the double over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. It was a close game throughout with the ball turning a fair bit. But, in the end, CSK had enough match-winners in the kitty and for a change, MS Dhoni didn’t finish off the game.

The chase began in a familiar way for the Men in Yellow. Shane Watson continued to struggle with Harry Gurney pinning him in front of the stumps. Faf du Plessis was castled by Piyush Chawla even as the leggie got the better of Kedar Jadhav to put CSK under a lot of pressure. However, Suresh Raina and his experience was in the middle who made things look easy in the end.

Raina’s half-century and then Ravindra Jadeja‘s blitzkrieg helped CSK get over the line in the last over. Dhoni’s wicket in the 16th over had turned the game. But Jadeja literally played like a proper top-order batsman to churn out boundaries from nowhere for his team and remained unbeaten on 31 off just 17 balls as CSK registered their seventh win of the season. They are now only one win away from qualifying for the playoffs.

Earlier, Chris Lynn got going from the word go for his team. He attacked Deepak Chahar in his first over itself, which was never done by any team in the tournament so far. The early boundaries got his adrenaline pumping and the Australian was in the mood for his team. He ripped apart almost every bowler that came his way apart from Imran Tahir.

Lynn also smacked Ravindra Jadeja for three back-to-back sixes to race into the 80s. But the South African leggie was at work today and he sent back Lynn and the dangerous Andre Russell in the same over to turn the game on its head. KKR struggled completely in the last four overs and couldn’t even eke out a single four in the last four overs to end up on an under-par total of 161 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Eventually, the total was not enough for them to win the game thanks to the dad’s army’s superb batting.
