MS Dhoni is currently a heat magnet after his outburst against umpires in Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. After the on-field umpire, Ulhas Gandhe, reversed a call for a waist-high no ball, Dhoni stormed on to the field and argued with the umpires for their gaffe. Most of the experts and current and former players have criticised him.
Nevertheless, CSK’s own Imran Tahir has come forward and defended his skipper over the infamous incidence. Tahir has played for two seasons under MS Dhoni and had picked 6 wickets in 6 matches in IPL 2018 win of the team. This season so far, he has picked 9 wickets in 7 matches and has an economy of 5.61.
He is always there to help, says Tahir about Dhoni
Recently, Imran Tahir was present at the Kolkata leg launch of Dhoni’s global cricket academy and was hounded by the reporters for quotes on the MS Dhoni-umpire issue, which resulted in Dhoni being fined 50% of his match fees. “He is a great inspiration for everyone, a great leader and a human being. He is always there to help. That’s what motivates me to join the academy to help the kids,” Tahir was quoted by Outlook India.
Tahir also mentioned that he will be helping out with the academy after the World Cup 2019 ends. “Even though I have not announced myself globally as part of the MSD Academy, after the World Cup I am free. Even if I have to come to India or go to any place to help the academy, I am willing to do it. I am always there to help the youngsters whenever I can,” Tahir was quoted as saying.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stands at the no.1 spot in the points table with 12 points and 6 wins in seven matches. Their only loss has come at the hands of Mumbai Indians (MI) and their next match will be against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, as part of their four-game away journey.
