Mumbai Indians (MI) couldn’t progress to the playoffs in the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the team, captained by Rohit Sharma, is one of the favourites for the fact that they have won the championship thrice. MI are scheduled to play their opening match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in the second of tomorrow’s doubleheader.
Albeit, Mumbai lost last year to the Delhi-franchise, then Daredevils, they have a 5-2 record against Delhi at the iconic venue. On the contrary, the Capitals have been one of the under-performers and would want to change their fortunes. The team has mostly ended in the bottom half of the points table in the previous seasons and the task won’t be easy for them this time around.
Pitch and Conditions
The track at the ground has mostly favoured the batsmen and chasing seems to be the wisest at least for the time being. Moreover, the humidity level is expected to be high as well and the temperature will be around 30 degrees. Teams are most likely to field first after winning the toss.
Team Combination
Mumbai Indians
Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma form the left-right opening duo. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan are the men in the middle order. Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, and Ben Cutting are the all-rounders. The onus would also be on the experienced shoulders of Kieron Pollard. McClenaghan and Bumrah are the fast bowlers with Markande as the spinner. Yuvraj Singh may have to sit out.
Probable XI
Quinton de Kock (WK), Rohit Sharma (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Ben Cutting, Mayank Markande, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah

Axar Patel is likely to make his debut for Delhi. Harshal Patel is a valuable inclusion as well. Amit Mishra and Sandeep Lamichhane will shoulder the spin department. Boult and Rabada are the fast bowlers.
