The Mumbai Indians defeated the Delhi Capitals for the first time in two years by a 40-run margin on Thursday. The visiting team surprised many with their decision to bat first which eventually worked in their favour. They ended up with a solid total of 168/5 as the opening pair added 57 in 6.1 overs and the Pandya brothers shared a 54-run stand in only 26 deliveries. The Delhi franchise found themselves in grave situations after a solid powerplay as they managed only 128/9 in their 20 overs.

A rare win in Delhi for MI:

2 – Only the 2nd time since 2012 that the Mumbai Indians have won an IPL game at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. They played as many as seven IPL games in his period and lost in five of them. They managed to defeat the hosts in the 2017 season by a record 146-run margin.


Mishra gets his 150th:

150 – Amit Mishra became the first Indian player and only the 2nd overall to claim 150 wickets in the IPL. Only Lasith Malinga (162) is ahead of Mishra in the list of leading wicket-takers in the IPL. Mishra was also the first Indian and the 2nd player after Malinga with 100 IPL wicket.


Rohit @ 8000:

8018Rohit Sharma completed 8000 runs in the Twenty20 format when he passed his individual score of 12. Rohit is now only the 8th player and the 3rd from India after Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli to aggregate 8000 T20 runs.


Dhawan goes past Gambhir:

495 – Number of fours Shikhar Dhawan has hit in the IPL thus far; the most by any player in this league surpassing Gautam Gambhir’s 492 fours. Dhawan hit five fours in this game to hold the record of hitting the most number of fours in the IPL.


A game without big scores:

282 – Runs scored by the batsmen of both the teams in this game; the most in an IPL game without an individual 40+ score. Krunal Pandya’s unbeaten 37 is the highest individual score in this game. During the game between RCB and RPS in 2017, the batsmen aggregated 274 runs where the top score was only 31 by Rahul Tripathi.


Mishra and Bumrah get their bunnies:

6 – Number of times Rohit Sharma has been dismissed to Amit Mishra in the IPL; the joint-most times any bowler has claimed the Rohit’s wicket in the IPL and also the most times Mishra has ever dismissed a batsman in the league. Rohit scored 80 runs from 85 deliveries against the leg-spinner.

6.5 – Rishabh Pant’s batting average in the IPL against Jasprit Bumrah. The DC batsman has scored 26 runs from 25 deliveries against Bumrah and got out on four instances in this league. Pant scored 18 runs from 7 balls against the MI speedster during the game played in Mumbai.
