The Royal Challengers Bangalore finally broke their hoodoo against the Kolkata Knight Riders as they sneaked through to a 10-run win on Friday. In one of the many coming do-or-die matches, skipper Virat Kohli scored a brilliant ton along with Moeen Ali whose 28-ball 66 powered RCB to 213/4. The hosts looked in all tatters after the first half but Andre Russell possessed the threat along with Nitish Rana. The duo added 118 in only eight overs for the 5th wicket but couldn’t take them home.

A rare defeat for KKR:

1 – The Kolkata Knight Riders lost each of their previous three matches at the Eden Gardens. This is the first time the KKR team have lost three straight matches at their home venue in Kolkata.


1 – Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL for the first time in six matches they played since the start of 2017. The last IPL win for RCB over KKR came during the 2016 season also at the Eden Gardens.


A record ton for the King:

5 – Number of centuries in the IPL for Virat Kohli; the 2nd most by any player in the league. Chris Gayle, with six centuries, is the only other player with five or more tons in the IPL.


2 – Virat Kohli became the 2nd Indian to score as many as five centuries in the IPL. All his five T20 tons have come in the IPL only. Rohit Sharma (6) is the other player from India with five or more three-digit score in the format.


5 – All the five centuries in the Twenty20 cricket scored by Kohli have been while leading the teams. He is only the 2nd player with five or more tons as a captain in this format. Michael Klinger has as many as six T20 hundreds as skipper.


Bad day for Kuldeep:

59 – Runs Kuldeep Yadav conceded in his four overs during this game; the joint-most runs conceded by a spin bowler in an IPL game. Imran Tahir also gave away 59 runs against the Mumbai Indians during the 2016 game played in Vizag.


59 – The 59 runs conceded by Kuldeep are the most in an IPL game by a Kolkata Knight Riders bowler. Ryan McLaren was hit for 60 runs in the 2013 IPL game by the Mumbai Indians.


RCB extend their domination:

13 – The Royal Challengers Bangalore now have scored as many as 13 individual centuries in the IPL; the most by any team. Kings XI Punjab stand second with 11 individual tons in the league. In all Twenty20s, no team other than RCB have more than 11 tons. All 13 centuries by RCB players have been recorded in the IPL only.


8 – The Knight Riders conceded as many as eight 100s in the IPL; the most by any team. The Royal Challengers have been at the receiving end on the seven occasions thus far.


A first for KKR:

1 – For the first time, two KKR bowlers conceded fifty and more runs in the same IPL game. Kuldeep conceded 59 runs while Prasidh Krishna gave away 52 runs.


A sensational finish:

91 – Runs aggregated by RCB in the last five overs of their innings; the 2nd most by any team in an IPL inning between 16 and 20 overs. They hold the record with 112 runs scored during the 2016 season game against Gujarat Lions.


Russell @ 100:

107 – Andre Russell became the 17th player to hit 100 or more sixes in the IPL with 2nd of his nine sixes in this game. Russell hit 104 sixes for the Knight Riders only. He is the 10th player to hit 100+ sixes in the IPL for a single team.


Nitish Rana @ 1000:

1027 – Nitish Rana completed 1000 runs in the IPL during the unbeaten 85-run knock against RCB; his highest IPL score thus far. Rana needed 38 innings for completing 1000 IPL runs; the joint 7th fewest among the 37 Indian players to reach the milestone.
