The Delhi Capitals were quick to bounce back from a huge defeat against the Mumbai Indians and defeated the Kings XI Punjab by five wickets. Chris Gayle held the key for the visitors in Delhi with a 37-ball 69 which he scored with six fours and five maximums. They finished with only 163/7 after his dismissal which turned out to be an easy chase for the hosts. Shikhar Dhawan scored 56 and added 92 runs for the second wicket along with Shreyas Iyer. The skipper remained unbeaten on 58 from 49 to take his team through.

Delhi gets better of KXIP:

5 – First time in five matches, Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) have defeated Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. KXIP won each of their last four matches in the IPL against the Delhi franchise. Delhi’s last win over Kings XI came during the 2017 season also in Delhi by a 51-run margin.


Dhawan @ 500:

502 – Shikhar Dhawan became the first player to hit 500 fours in IPL history. His 5th four from the seven he hit in this game was his 500th in the IPL. He went past Gautam Gambhir’s tally of 492 fours during the previous game.


Gayle continues his good record in Delhi:

367 – Runs Chris Gayle has scored in the IPL against the Delhi franchise at the Feroz Shah Kotla; the 2nd most by any player against DC at this venue. Virat Kohli leads the list with 405 runs that he scored in 8 innings with five fifties.


Dhawan joins a rare list:

10 – Shikhar Dhawan now has scored 300+ runs in 10 different seasons of the IPL. He failed to get to 300 runs in only 2009 and 2010 editions. He is the 4th player to score 300+ runs in ten different editions of the IPL.

Suresh Raina posted 300 runs in each of the first 11 IPL editions while Rohit Sharma did the same in the first ten seasons. Virat also scored over 300 runs in each of the last ten IPL seasons after missing out in the first two seasons.


Dhawan levels with Sehwag:

7 – Number of IPL fifties Shikhar Dhawan has at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi; the joint-most fifty-plus score by any player in the IPL at this venue. Virender Sehwag also has seven IPL fifties in Delhi but from 19 innings while Dhawan has batted just 9 times.

Shreyas Iyer’s fifty was his 6th in the IPL at this venue; the joint 2nd most alongside Gautam Gambhir and Dinesh Karthik.
