Finally, the sun rose and shone in Hyderabad on Wednesday when SRH defeated IPL heavyweights Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets. In a do or die situation, the orange outfits won after losing three consecutive matches. Jonny Bairstow and David Warner’s batting stints helped SRH put up a modest total which the CSK clan failed to chase down.

Kolkata Knight Riders are staring down the barrel after losing four matches on the trot. It will be a stiff challenge if their main man Andre Russell continues to be injury plagued. So far KKR has been good only if Russell kept their scoreboard ticking. So it mostly depends on the Caribbean to guide his team to break the winless streak.

Team Combinations

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Hyderabad after an outstanding victory against their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings got into good shape. Williamson’s men will look to repeat the feat going big with the bat and will rely on the top order for that. It is proven that the Hyderabad side also has a set middle order and a good set of all-rounders.

Probable XI: David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Kane Williamson (C), Vijay Shankar, Yusuf Pathan, Deepak Hooda, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shahbaz Nadeem, Sandeep Sharma,  K Khaleel Ahmed.

With their losing streak on the peak, it is very important for KKR to work as a team rather than just forcing the responsibility on Russell. In the bowling department, they require a breakthrough bowler for which they might bring in Sandeep Warrier by dumping Prasidh Krishna.

Probable XI: Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Robin Uthappa, Dinesh Karthik (C & wk), Andre Russell,  Piyush Chawla, Harry Gurney, Kuldeep Yadav, Sandeep Warrier.

Sunrisers won the toss, opt to field first

Focus will be on

Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner

450 runs in eight matches for the batsman who is steering the orange outfit’s batting to unlimited heights. Well, he is definitely the player whom KKR bowlers need to deal with at priority else the ball will just sail over the fence all around the park. Warner is in a good form and will want to take his team home.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Piyush Chawla

Piyush Chawla should be on the toes as he had not shone with the ball this season. He has picked up only six wickets and hasn’t lived up to the team’s expectations. In the previous match against SRH, Piyush could take only one wicket. High time the experienced campaigner delivers for the team in a crucial contest.

Head-to-head

Matches: 16 | SRH won: 6 | KKR won: 10

Stat Attack

762 – David Warner is the second highest run-getter with 762 runs against KKR after Suresh Raina.
