The fourth match of the Indian Premier League will see Rajasthan Royals (RR) welcoming Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) as both the teams will be eyeing to start their season on a winning note. Both the teams are full of match-winners for quite some time now but their record in the league especially in the last few years has left a lot to be desired. Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, R Ashwin, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Jos Buttler, Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith, Ben Stokes are few of the names who will be in action when both the teams lock horns in Jaipur on Monday.

The contest promises to be a thrilling one and what will make it even more thrilling is some mini plots associated with it. All eyes will be on Steve Smith as he is set to make his return to the league after missing the last edition due to the ball-tampering scandal. His compatriot David Warner has already impressed on his comeback by scoring 85 and it is now Smith’s turn to hog the limelight. On the other hand, both the skippers – Ajinkya Rahane and R Ashwin – will be looking to hit the ground running in order to brighten up their World Cup chances.

With India’s middle-order far from being settled, a good show in the season can very much put Rahane in contention. The team-management could be also tempted to include an experienced spinner like Ashwin in the team for the World Cup if the senior spinner performs well this season.

As far as stats are concerned, the Kings XI have never beaten the Royals in Jaipur. But given the team they have at the moment, they will pretty much fancy their chances although complacency can very much bring about their downfall.

According to AccuWeather, the temperature during the match time will hover between 23 to 26 degrees Celsius.
