The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have certainly turned the tide with their recent performances and their hopes of making it to the playoffs are igniting with every passing game. Despite losing a couple of important players in Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer, they have been outstanding in their previous two games, which kept them alive in the tournament.
A defeat here for Rajasthan would mean they will be out of the tournament, alongside their opponents for the day, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The reverse fixture of this contest was a walk in the park for the Men in Pink, who reigned supreme on their home turf and Rahane will be a very important player for them.
Rahane has been a key to Rajasthan’s recent success. Although it is a contest between two sides at the bottom of the pile, these two sides have gained great momentum in the last few games, which should make up for an exciting contest. Skipper Steve Smith will also be featuring in his final game for the franchise before leaving for Australia, adding more burden on the shoulders of Rahane.
Ajinkya Rahane clearly wasn’t finding his feet as a captain and as a batter. There were some jitters in his approach, which never helped him. Nevertheless, since he was sacked as the skipper, he has done a brilliant job at the top order. He’s pacing his innings brilliantly and more often than not, is giving an explosive start to the side, just the old Rahane did.
Rahane’s rejuvenation clearly has impacted the side, who currently stand in a decent position to battle for a place in the top four. His strokeplay is also allowing the likes of Steve Smith and Sanju Samson to breathe easy and take their time before launching an assault. Clearly, Rahane’s contribution in the second half of the tournament has been profuse.

Against RCB: 6 innings, 281 runs, 56.20 average, 1 century, 1 fifty.
