Not many can come to a conclusion that AB de Villiers has had a decent season in 2019 despite scoring over 440 runs with a game remaining. Well, that is the standard the South African has set for himself over the years and he clearly looked like a retired player. He looked a bit rusty on a few occasions, despite producing some vintage moments in some games.
The season is done and dusted for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who have done everything but are out of contention right now. Saturday night will be a dead-rubber for them, but they will be keen to finish the season on a positive note. They will be up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who in the reverse fixture annihilated and decimated Kohli & Co in Hyderabad.
AB de Villiers has produced great magic against this franchise in the past and is fondly remembered for his duels with the great Dale Steyn. He registered three fifties against SRH, all of which came in crucial junctures and were also match-winning. His exploits against this very team last season saw Basil Thampi concede the worst figures in IPL history (4-0-70-0).
He is still capable of damaging oppositions in a span of 20-30 deliveries, that perhaps is a gift no one can steal from the great man. Unfortunately for the RCB, he has not done that on many occasions this season. He will not be coming back to India for another year or so to play cricket and Mr. 360 would perhaps be eager to register a big score and give a proper send off to his fans in the Garden City.
