Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) would be in a completely different frame of mind as the teams experienced contrasting fortunes in their respective last matches. The CSK, captained by MS Dhoni, thumped the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 80 runs. Their spinners, especially Imran Tahir, came to the party and wreaked havoc. Another victory will confirm them a spot in the top two of the table.

Their next encounter is against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Last time around in 2018, KXIP defeated CSK at the very venue, yet the Super Kings have a 3-2 lead. Punjab are coming off a seven-wicket defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at home itself. Ravi Ashwin’s men are currently dependent on a few of the other results to go their way in a bid to qualify for the playoffs.

Punjab may prefer Ankit Rajpoot in place of Arshdeep Singh in order to add some experience to their lineup. Arshdeep bowled two overs and conceded 24 runs. It will also be interesting to see how the Punjab batsmen tackle the Chennai spinners.

MS Dhoni’s fitness has been an issue and the Super Kings would want their main man to be fit going into the all-important playoffs.

KL Rahul- Kings XI Punjab

Rahul has got runs pretty comfortably with 522 runs at an average of 52.20. His knocks have attributed to a number of KXIP’s victories in the last two seasons. He got out for 2 against KKR, but he is more than capable of making a comeback. Last time, his knock of 55 against CSK went in vain and this time around, he will be keen to convert it into a match-winning one and maybe take his team through to the playoffs.

Suresh Raina- Chennai Super Kings

Raina hasn’t been that bad, having got 306 runs. The southpaw has shown sparks of brilliance but has looked a tad lifeless going by the standards he has set for himself over the years. Against DC, he scored 59 and the knock would’ve given him a whole lot of confidence. He hasn’t played back-to-back good innings thus far and he will be keen to play another decent hand before moving into the playoffs.
