It has been less than a week since we witnessed that mind-boggling encounter at the Eden Gardens between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, where Hardik Pandya and Andre Russell proved why they are on top of the Most Valuable Players’ list. Hardik Pandya, despite struggling with a cramp, produced one of the most unforgettable knocks in IPL history.

The ease with which he was clearing the ropes and finding the gaps left everyone with jaws dropped and eyebrows raised. The Indian all-rounder has also been mastering the helicopter shot, which we have seen on quite a lot of occasions this season. His 32-ball 91 without a shadow of a doubt has been the best knock this season and there’s no denying why he cannot pull out something similar again.

He is doing a good job with the ball in the middle overs but hasn’t done well at the death. Against Sunrisers Hyderabad, with 17 runs needed in one over, he almost conceded all the runs and Mumbai survived by the skin of their teeth. He anyways amended for that final over with a six off the first ball in the Super Over, which literally broke the spine of the Sunrisers.

Mumbai Indians are heavily dependent on him and Pollard to do the damage in middle overs. Both these brilliant batsmen have enjoyed a terrific season thus far and will be keen to deliver another knockout punch to finish in the top two. In their quest for a record-breaking fourth IPL title, Mumbai are in desperate need of the Indian stalwart all-rounder to deliver a few more top performances.
