With an eye on continuing their winning start to the season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will lock horns against each other at the Eden Gardens in the sixth game of this year’s Indian Premier League. Both the teams have started their campaign with comprehensive wins, registering victories from the jaws of defeat. While Knight Riders beat last year’s finalists Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Kings XI beat Rajasthan Royals.

Knight Riders were looking set to start their season with a loss when they needed an improbable 53 from the last 3 overs against the formidable attack of the Sunrisers. However, Andre Russell played one of his best knocks in the IPL and was well supported by young Shubman Gill as the two-time IPL winners pulled off a miraculous win with two balls remaining.

On the other hand, the Kings XI Punjab were also in a spot of bother against the Royals. Jos Buttler was taking their bowlers to the cleaners and the Royals were comfortably placed at 108 for 1 in the 13th over while chasing 185. This is when Kings XI skipper Ravi Ashwin Mankaded Buttler which completely changed the course of the game. The Royals kept losing wickets at regular intervals as the Kings XI restricted them to 170 for 9.

As far as stats are concerned, the home side would start the game as favourites. KKR enjoy a 7-3 head-to-head record against the Kings XI at home. Overall, both the teams have played against each other on 23 occasions with the Knight Riders winning 15 of them including the final of 2014. But with both the teams in form at the moment, stats might not predict the winner as the upcoming game could be won by either of the team.

How will be the weather:

According to AccuWeather, the temperature will hover in the higher side of the 20s when the game starts. The temperature will be around the 28-degree Celsius at the start of the game but will decrease to around 25 as the game goes on. There are no predictions of rain but the city could be lashed by it during the evening time.
