Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) kick-started their respective campaigns with dramatic wins in their first match of this IPL. KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the game played at the Eden Gardens by chasing down 53 runs from last three overs thanks to Andre Russell’s blistering knock. Kings XI registered a 14-run win over the Rajasthan Royals which was their maiden win in Jaipur but was overshadowed by the Mankading dismissal of Jos Buttler by their skipper Ravichandran Ashwin.

3-7 – Kings XI Punjab’s win-loss record in the IPL at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. KXIP’s win over KKR in Kolkata during the 2018 season was their first win at this venue since the start of 2013 season.
5 – Number of times Robin Uthappa has been dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin in the IPL; the most he has been dismissed by any bowler. Uthappa scored 88 runs from only 65 balls with five fours and six sixes against Ashwin in the IPL.
