The keeper-batsmen were the show stealers during the 4th round of the Indian Premier League (IPL) official championship fantasy league. AB de Villiers had two good half-centuries while the likes of KL Rahul and Jos Buttler carried their consistency. The fifth round could witness a couple of teams sealing their playoff berth and a few losing their last bit of chance for finishing in top four.
Here is our fantasy guide for the 5th round of the IPL Fantasy League season mode:
(Can be played on Dream11 and Official IPL Fantasy)
Round 5 schedule – Delhi Capitals will play three matches while Kings XI Punjab plays only one game. All the remaining six teams will play two matches apiece.
Wicket-Keepers:
Suggestions – Rishabh Pant, Jos Buttler
Alternatives – KL Rahul, Jonny Bairstow
Economical Picks – Ishan Kishan
KL Rahul can be replaced with Rishabh Pant as the Kings XI plays only one game in this round while Delhi Capitals have three. Ishan Kishan and Bairstow are expected to be decent during this round but are not good enough to replace Jos Buttler yet.
Batsmen:
Suggestions – Faf du Plessis, Rohit Sharma, AB de Villiers, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer
Alternatives – Robin Uthappa, David Warner, Virat Kohli
Economical Picks – Suryakumar Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan, Mayank Agarwal
AB de Villiers stepped up in the need of the hour for RCB and could be seen continuing in the same rhythm. The likes of Dhawan, Rohit and Iyer were decent during the previous round and are expected to be among the top picking during the 5th round. Dhawan and Shreyas have three games in this round which helps the duo to be on the top. Virat Kohli can be picked ahead of ABD and Rohit but the main issue is his high pricing.
Ambati Rayudu, who faced the axe from India’s CWC squad, will be up against SRH in Hyderabad and RCB in Bangalore during this round. No player scored more runs in the IPL against these two teams in their backyard than Rayudu. Raina, the last match hero with the bat for CSK, also has good success in Hyderabad. Nitish Rana has a history of running out of gas during the 2nd half of the tournament and his recent scores suggest the same.
All-Rounders:
Suggestions – Hardik Pandya, Andre Russell, Chris Morris
Alternatives – Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Sunil Narine
Economical Picks – Sam Curran
No player has been as consistent as Hardik Pandya in the all-rounder’s category in this season. Russell had a couple of games where he didn’t do much but Pandya contributes with either bat or ball in almost every game. Chris Morris could be a surprise package in this round as the Delhi Capitals will be playing as many as three matches.
Bowlers:
Suggestions – Yuzvendra Chahal, Kagiso Rabada, Khaleel Ahmed
Alternatives – Kuldeep Yadav, Imran Tahir, Ishant Sharma, Rashid Khan, Jofra Archer
Economical Picks – Shreyas Gopal, Harbhajan Singh, Rahul Chahar
Yuzvendra Chahal and Kagiso Rabada have been consistent at scalping wickets regularly. Ishant Sharma can also be picked considering an extra game in hand. With SRH playing both their games this round in Hyderabad, the left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed could come handy with the large boundaries at the venue. Rahul Chahar and Shreyas Gopal’s effectiveness hasn’t been translated into wickets in the previous round. Harbhajan Singh’s role in CSK line-up is quite interesting makes him a risky picking.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Considering the extra match to be played by the Delhi Capitals, the likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan and even the South Africans Chris Morris and Kagiso Rabada can be picked up as captains. Rabada’s record form warrants at least the vice-captain option. Other than DC, the likes of Buttler, De Villiers and Hardik can be considered for multipliers.
Free hit option on official fantasy:
Both the games of RCB in this round are perfect choices for the Free Hits. RCB will take on KKR in Kolkata which is generally a high-scoring venue. Later, they will take on the Chennai Super Kings in Bangalore where the CSK team chased down 204 during the previous season. (The Free Hit booster multiplies the fantasy points in a game by two times. This is currently available only on official fantasy site.)
